Did GoPro just solve the supply side problem for VR?

Many pundits have commented that the current VR cycle is over.  RIP VR? It is true that VR has a demand side problem.  High-quality headsets are expensive and the VR experience is an isolated one turning many people off the technology.

I think potentially the bigger issue is that  VR content available for consumption is still sparse. What I like about this GoPro announcement is that it tries to solve for the supply side of the problem by democratising VR production or at least starting us off on that path.  By making everyone into VR producers using cameras cheaper than DSLR cameras you could see this enabling content producers to cross the chasm and starting adopting VR as a production medium.

Long Live VR.  Here's hoping.

By comparison, the Fusion is aimed at consumers who want to shoot 360-degree imagery but who don’t require the highest quality.
