My tech-idol John Carmack says avoid the novelty of VR, and I agree

Our principal graphics engineer Maher Hatab has a PhD is VR Usability, and our team come from a pedigree of game development and interactive... Rush (and I) believe in delivering VR experiences that are substantially unique, and not just a gimmick - in this article, Carmack is quoted as asking developers and creatives to push harder to do more with VR, make the user experience better with lower load times and push to get something going on Mobile VR like Samsung Gear VR and Google Cardboard. I whole heatedly agree (and not just because I'm a fanboy). We are early in VR, now is the time to do something impressive and make a mark that will be seen around the world.

Carmack returned to avoiding the allure of novelty as, "the biggest thing I want to impress on people." Almost every developer makes that mistake to some extent, he said.
