Start-up divides the world into a 57-trillion-square grid, identifiable by 3 keywords

What3words is solving the world's addressing problem. By splitting the world into 3x3 metre square grids they've given everyone in the world a communicable location, wherever they are. I've watched this start-up over the last year go from being a fledgling thought to getting noticed and winning international awards, and now getting officially adopted on a country-wide scale. A true example of the beauty and simplicity that real innovation carries.

The system is designed to solve the an often-ignored problem of 75% of the earth’s population, an estimated 4 billion people, who have no address for mailing purposes, making it difficult to open a bank account, get a delivery, or be reached in an emergency.
