Snapchat dragging us into the AR future without us knowing it

Even though AR has been around for a good decade or so it has had very slow consumer uptake and the killer app experience is still known. However right before our eyes Snapchat is dragging a generation into AR without us even knowing. As this article states the tech giants of the world from Google, Facebook and even Apple are investigating how to connect our physical and digital worlds together. We at Rush are doing that every day and believe we have become experts at 'Blurring the lines between reality and digital'.

On the surface, Lenses are just masks, designs, and graphics that are digitally superimposed on your face. Now, it should be noted that this probably isn’t true “augmented reality”—where computers use your location, image recognition, and other data to provide more information on what you’re seeing. But Snapchat’s simplified version of the concept has become popular both with its youthful users and advertising partners.
